BILSTEIN Takes 1st & 2nd at Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona!

BILSTEIN’s Shock Absorber superiority has been proven once again as BILSTEIN equipped Magnus Racing...

BILSTEIN’s Shock Absorber superiority has been proven once again as BILSTEIN equipped Magnus Racing and TRG Porsches captured the first and second place podium finish at the just completed Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, where nearly 27% of vehicles in the GT field were equipped with BILSTEIN Shocks. BILSTEIN has long been recognized as the world’s leading manufacturer, and the original creator, of monotube gas pressure shock absorbers for all forms of motorsports racing, and their exceptional shock absorber technology contributed to the success of both teams, as well as helped Magnus shatter the record for most GT laps completed.
John Potter, Magnus team owner and driver, said, “We installed BILSTEIN’s latest MDS adjustable shocks on our 911 GT3 for this year, and we were ecstatic by their performance. There is no doubt that the adjustable BILSTEIN shocks, along with some great driving, and superlative teamwork, contributed greatly to our win.”
Kevin Buckler, owner and CEO of TRG commented, "BILSTEIN is a professional organization and has made its mark by winning in motorsports. They've been a great partner to us, and have always given us a competitive advantage."
Both teams utilized Bilstein’s MDS adjustable coilover monotube struts and shocks with independent 10-way rebound and 10-way compression double adjustable shafts.
The 24 Hour Rolex race featured 727 laps and a total of 2,588 miles. It is estimated that shock absorbers move about 1,750 cycles per mile in normal driving, so the new BILSTEIN MDS adjustable shocks controlled the Porsche Suspension at a minimum of 4,529,210 trouble-free cycles.
Congratulations to the 50th Anniversary Grand-Am Rolex event, the racers and their team members for putting on an amazing performance. For the leading technology, winning performance, and superior selection, look no further than BILSTEIN.

Almost 3 Million Miles!

Bilstein is helping Irv Gordon reach his milestone.

Bilstein is Helping Irv Gordon Reach 3 Million Miles

If you are a fan of the open road, Volvos, or Guinness World Record holders, the story of Irv Gordon and his quest to reach 3 million miles in his 1966 P1800 probably sounds familiar. The retired teacher from New York made it into the Guinness Book of World Records back in 1998 at 1.69 million, for the most miles driven by a single-owner in a non-commercial vehicle. Since then, he’s just kept on driving, cruising roads all across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Europe! As of today, his odometer sits at above 2,908,000, with less than 100,000 miles to go.
Gordon bought the car new, and after 45 years of ownership, credits both the vehicle’s engineering and regular maintenance for allowing him to reach such amazing milestones. He has also been using Bilstein Shock Absorbers.

After going through several sets of OEM shock absorbers, Gordon made the switch to Bilstein in the mid 90’s. While he’s replaced the fronts once, he believes the rear set has more than 1,000,000 miles on them over 15 years of use.
“The car still has a great ride and handles the pot holes without complaint in the New York City/Bronx area. They have not leaked or lost their support after years of abuse,” said Gordon. “My ride is most comfortable and the shocks have proved most durable over these many years.”
To help him continue on the road to 3 million miles and thank him for his enthusiasm for the product, Bilstein recently sent Gordon a set of replacement shock absorbers. Everyone at the company wishes him the very best!

BILSTEIN wins at Daytona.

Bilstein has long been recognized for engineering and building the world’s leading monotube shock absorber for all forms of competition. Their shock absorber superiority has been proven once again as the Bilstein equipped TRG Porsche #67 captured the first place podium finish at the just completed Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.

The TRG team started the week posting the fastest times in both of the free practice sessions on Thursday, then carried the momentum into the event. Utilizing Bilstein’s MDS adjustable coilover monotube struts and shocks with independent 10-way rebound and 10-way compression double adjustable shafts, the TRG Porsche won the event, and Bilstein equipped cars took 3 of the top 5 positions.
The 24 Hour Rolex race featured 685 laps and a total of 2,438 miles. It is estimated that shock absorbers move about 1,750 cycles per mile in normal driving, so the new MDS adjustable shocks controlled the Porsche Suspension at a minimum of 4,266,500 trouble-free cycles.
TRG team owner Kevin Buckler said, “We have relied on Bilstein shock absorbers on our street and race cars for many years, and recently installed Bilstein’s latest new MDS adjustable shocks. There is no doubt that the new adjustable Bilstein shocks, along with some incredible teamwork, contributed significantly to our win.”
Congratulations to the racers and their team members.
