BILSTEIN Triumphant at 2016 Nürburgring Race
Black Falcon Takes First Place Win
Turbulent weather was no match for BILSTEIN racers as they raced to victory in the 44th Annual ADAC Zürich 24-Hour Race. Held on the famed Nürburgring race track in Germany, also known as the “Green Hell,” more than 40 BILSTEIN equipped cars took part in the 24-Hour classic during May 26th through 29th.
The Black Falcon team celebrated its biggest victory to date at the Nürburgring. The weather, marked by rain, hail, and ice, did not have a major effect on the #4 Mercedes AMG GT3. Drivers Bernd Schneider, Maro Engel, Adam Christodoulou, and Manuel Metzger led the path to victory, winning in spectacular fashion by overtaking a car in the final lap. The Black Falcon #9 AMG GT3 car, wrapped in BILSTEIN blue and yellow, also successfully finished in fourth place. Both cars race on BILSTEIN’s new four-way adjustable Modular Damping System (MDS) shock absorbers.
“We are very pleased with the great success of our partner’s showing in this memorable race. The MDS (modular damping system) has performed perfectly on one of the most demanding race tracks as proven by this remarkable victory. The team occupied the pole position and drove the fastest lap of the whole race,” said BILSTEIN’s motorsports director Martin Flick in congratulating the winners.
Another notable win was the 7th place finish of the Bentley Continental GT3 driven by the C. Abt Racing factory team. The English sports car is also equipped with the new BILSTEIN MDS.
The BILSTEIN MDS (Modular Damping System) is developed and fine-tuned around the demanding curves of the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. The MDS series provides precise damping adjustability and features a four-way independent rebound and compression adjustment system. Offering up to 100 different damping configurations, as well as 36mm and 46mm monotube designs, the modular construction provides a versatile, championship winning formula in adjustability.
