Marcos Nunez & Team Kiosko: Class 5/1600

Team Kiosko was founded in January 1996 through the efforts of Marcos Nunez, Norberto Rivera, Librado Marquez and Ciriaco Arambula with a vision to enjoy the sport of off-road racing. After their years of involvement in the sport through the 80’s and early 90’s with the Ernesto Arambula team in class 5/1600, they were looking forward to developing their own team to have fun with.

They began in Class 11, with very satisfying results: 3 consecutives 1st place wins in the Baja 500 (1996, 1997 & 1998), the championship in their local RECORD organization in 1997, and the class championship in the CODE organization after the complete 1998 season.

In 1999 they moved to the 5/1600 class, in which it didn’t take long for Team Kiosko to excel. In this new class, they won the 2000 RECORD championship and the 2001 championship in CODE. Additionally, they can claim several 1st place finishes in the Baja 500 (2000, 2001, 2003, 2005 & 2006), as well as numerous 1st place wins at the Baja 1000 (2001, 2003, 2005 & 2006).

The success of all of Team Kiosko’s wins resulted in SCORE Championships in 2003, 2005 & 2006, and second place in class points in 2004.

Team Kiosko is thankful for the unconditional support of some sponsors who have been with them throughout their career, including: Cambio de Cheques El Kiosko, Servicio Automotriz Popeye, BILSTEIN Shocks, Montes Motores y Transmisiones, Sistemas de Comunicación, Miscelánea Erick, PEAK Roofing Management California, Arámbula & Hulsey Poliuretanos, Llantera TEMO, T-Design Art & Paint

The people involved in making the Kiosko Racing Team a success are Marcos Nunez, Norberto Rivera, Manuel Barreras, Omar Marquez, Jorge Nunez, Librado Marquez, Jose Hernandez, Shubert Montes, Danna Arambula, Joaquin Labastida, and Ciriaco Arambula.

This team has a lot of goals but, mainly, they want to continue being friends as they are now, to enjoy every moment of future competitions as a family, and look forward to training their kids in this fabulous sport. Future plans could include the move to a class 2/1600 or maybe even Score Lite or Class 10.
